Litehouse welcomes all ardent exophonic writers and poets to unfold their creativity, forge new words, and explore their linguistic self in an emotional and personally meaningful way.
It is strongly encouraged to use words in your native language or idioms with direct translations, prioritizing authenticity over the-chosen-language equivalents when it resonates more deeply with you.
Don’t put pressure on yourself to write in perfect English or whichever language you choose to write; what truly matters is the ability to convey and share the authenticity and richness of your emotions, culture, and language.
Submissions that don’t follow the requested guidelines will be disregarded.

AUDIO POEM
Accentric Poetry is an initiative dedicated to celebrating accents! If you want to send your audio poem, send an email to tothelitehouse@gmail.com, with the following guidelines:
- All submissions should include the title, your full name, your native country, a short bio, and your social media (if you have any).
- High quality audio: Ensure your microphone is of good quality, with as less pops and whistles as possible, and no background noise.
- A transcript of your audio poem.
- A portrait of yourself (high resolution).
Guidelines:
- Clear articulation: respect its metre, pauses, and punctuation. Read the poem slowly in a relaxed voice, taking into consideration its flow.
- Respect the poem: help the listener understand and feel the poem. Communicate it.
INTERVIEW
If you want to be featured as one of the Litehouse’s exophonic writers, now it’s your time to shine and be displayed on the website and social media as a prominent contributor. If you want to participate, send an email to tothelitehouse@gmail.com, with the following guidelines:

Poetry / Fiction / Non-Fiction / Essay
Writers are encouraged to incorporate words, phrases, or idioms from their native language into their submissions. Using metaphors and references specific to one’s culture can enrich the poem, offering readers a glimpse into different worldviews and traditions.
Note: Provide notes or explanations for native words and phrases, especially if they carry meanings that might not translate directly. This can be included as footnotes or a separate explanation.
– Please submit up to 2 pieces of writing, that have not already published anywhere else.
– We also accept bilingual poems! Submit both the original version of the poem in your native language AND the exophonic version of the poem in the language you prefer. You can mix and match different languages, but make sure it’s clear which languages you are using.
– For fiction/non-fiction, submissions shouldn’t exceed 2000 words.
