Bosnia, Meliha Šaćirović, Poetry

GALAXIES AWAY by Meliha Šaćirović

Keep me at bay
at the safe distance
where the evening whispers

Stretching and bending
This soul can accommodate
All the wounds you fail to comprehend
for your mending

Yet the limits arrive
And strangle my laugh
snatch the tales to tell I have
all I strive

To disclose and show
To embrace you with my soul
Before you withdraw entirely
And astray

On my ache’s stream
Tonight I’m wandering
Galaxies and galaxies away

Meliha is a Bosniak writer currently living in Serbia. As a person, she struggles with emotional intimacy, and English offers her the necessary safety to express her most truthful feelings.
