THE NIGHT SKY IS A GRAVEYARD OF STARS by Nadine Lacuarta

1–2 minutes
The night sky is just a graveyard of stars
that burned out a million light years away;

remnants of the archaic past sailing across the universe

they keep the moon some company;
to keep her crescent gleam in the darkness
to be by her side

because these stars, they knew how it felt
to be alone
to be light years distant from
each other;
to burst asunder into dusts
witnessed by nothing but a colossal void

these stars, pretty rhinestones adrift and
unfurled in a constellation

yet little did we know—
             how lonely they were.
